Justin Wyant

Much More Than Just Scheduling

BY RAPHAEL MAURICE

“This was a great decision in my life. I love it.”

Justin Wyant’s roots in Benton run deep. Alongside his wife and two sons—who are either alumni or currently attending Benton schools—Wyant has woven his family’s story into the fabric of this community. His parents chose Benton for their family, a tradition he proudly continues. Today, as the Maintenance Coordinator, Wyant plays a pivotal role in the life of the town’s educational heart. With a humble yet wry tone, he describes his job as that of “a glorified scheduler.” However, this modest self-assessment barely scratches the surface of his contributions to the school’s success and, by extension, the community at large.

Yes, scheduling is part of his job, but Wyant’s responsibilities extend far beyond. His hands-on approach ensures the school’s operational health, from boilers humming in harmony to classrooms buzzing with learning. Wyant’s philosophy centers on supporting teachers, the “backbone” of the school. He ensures they have everything necessary for success, embodying a deep respect and care for their role. His kindness and capability shine through, marking him as much more than his title suggests.

Wyant’s path to becoming Maintenance Coordinator unfolded during a vacancy, a time when another staff member juggled paraprofessional work with maintenance duties. Entrusted with the “keys” to this critical function, Wyant now starts his days early, threading through the school’s hallways, coordinating tasks before the day’s hustle begins. His meticulous planning and execution have earned him the affection and respect of both staff and students. To Wyant, this role is more than a job—it’s a calling he embraces with passion, reflected in his statement, “This was a great decision in my life. I love it.”

Beyond the school, Wyant contributes to Benton’s fabric through Wyant Construction, his residential building and contracting business. This endeavor intersects with his school duties, showcasing his multifaceted skills. Whether constructing homes, flipping houses, or making repairs, Wyant applies the same dedication and excellence that mark his work at the school.

For Wyant, Benton is more than a place of work—it’s home. Surrounded by friends in key community roles and teachers who once guided him, he finds joy in the familiar faces and shared histories. Benton cherishes Justin Wyant, not only for his role in maintaining the school’s physical environment but for his integral place within the community’s heart. From dawn till dusk, Wyant’s efforts ensure Benton thrives, a testament to his commitment and love for his hometown.
